Ohh….. I allway's thought it ment "Butt Fuck Edition" Whoops.
wait this isnt knuckles
STRIKE 3. knuckles meme officially over. unsubbed.
The melee animations are not random. They change depending on the weapon selected. example: Pistol&Shotgun=kick and SMG=kill.
I heard BFE means "butt fuck egypt"
I've watched all your Serious Sam reviews up to now, and honestly I've never seen SS reviews before. You're doing a great job man, keep it up! 😀
I am the 10,000 subscriber!
Ever since the game was released, I've been saying how BFE stands a whole head higher than the original (which I obviously adore a great deal).
The thing I dislike about the original is how…straightforward it feels. Yes, the areas are open, but they're also empty. Exploration is optional at best, and it feels lackluster quite often. The level design is just…plain.
That's one massive improvement that BFE brings – areas are big, and the level design this time around encourages actual exploration. Areas aren't empty – there's plenty of pick-ups amidst the Egyptian ruins which themselves create a more refined level (instead of traversing an open empty area, one finds himself navigating an open yet very slightly labirinth-ly area. The original has a little bit of this design – Suburbs in TFE springs to mind – but they are few and not nearly as well designed).
It sucks that everyone just simply ignore how SS3 improves the faults of SS1 (of which there are a few 😉 ) and instead focus on the game's problems.Overall, I feel that BFE is the almost perfect mix of old and new.
ANYWAY IGNORE ALL THE NONSENCE ABOVE AND ANSWER THE MOST SERIOUS QUESTION OF THEM ALLWill you be making a video on SS3 Fusion version? It's supposed to come with some changes and improvements, and it would be nice to have some discussions.
Also, finally someone who gets that BFE isn't supposed to stand for anything specific.
They said they will fix the frame rate issues with the fusion update.
21:00 I think it's about which Weapons you are using.I think Serious Sam 3 is overall not bad but the Levels there just show less creativity than the most modern Shooters. Solais made a mod called "Serious Sam 3 BFE Extended". Oh god this Mod makes the game just a lot better.
Actually SS3 is kinda "return to form". I think Alen said it back in the day that "If we made Serious Sam TFE with today's technology, it would look like as BFE does today." In a way, TFE was kinda supposed to be "realistic", but in a way different than what the western world thought it of. After all, the real world is a colorful place, and "realistic" shooters often show the world more grey and gloomy than what it is. TSE was actually the point in the series when it started to move towards a more cartoony look and feel, and from what little I know, it was due to the outside influence that gripped the series until SSHD. SSHD and SS3 were the first games made by CT since TFE that had no inside influence whatsoever.
With regard to the humanoid enemies being either kicked or killed, it depends on what weapon you have out. Forgot which does which, but Pistol, Shotguns and Assault Rifle are assigned specifically to kicking or to killing.
Can't reload cancel be another skill based thing? 😛 When you try to reload cancel and you screw up, the reload takes 2x longer so…
It's on salecurrently on steam$2.00I'd recommend getting it
Atleast we can all agree that it was better than SS2 right?
One think that separates from the enemies of new Doom from Serious Sam that in Serious Sam, enemies are relentless but in DOOM, they often flee from you (in order for you to be more aggressive).
I personally dislike reloading. A better option would be to have some charge bar that fills up after successfully hitting an enemy which could be released for stronger attack. That way the tactical aspect would be retained but punishment would be replaced by reward.
Sprinting could have been improved by making you spring whenever you face forward and aren't firing.
Interesting is that you didn't discuss jumping. It's both worse outside and inside combat. During combat, you can't use it to jump over enemy projectiles like you could during Serious Sam 1, removing that combat aspect of the game and narrowing your options in combat. Outside the combat the physics engine comes into play, especially when trying to get to some of the secrets of the game and what happens actually can depend on framerate as well. Jumping on barrels is especially frustrating, considering how collision box often won't register. Bugs can even send you flying backwards.
For the enemy department, I personally think that antaresian spiders are probably the best addition introduced in this game. I agree with you on technopolips and witch brides but I think cave demons are also a bad design if you want to kill them. They're just a chore to kill and you can't get them attacking you consistently and going after them is tedious as well. Scrapjacks are better but the random nature of the number of rockets they fire and if they are tracking makes it very hard to not get hit by one of them. (Technopolip mod doesn't actually fix the problem. The rockets they fire are too fast to avoid as well).
There are some other problems as well.
le swearing is bad and doing it makes you edgy meme
Kicking happens when using a pistol
I noticed that the witch harpy that you showed in the fotage has underware, while in my version it is completly naked.
Im pretty sure they put that label on the box because they have to and not to be "edgy" lmao
7.3/10 Well actualy this is a good score for a SS game which is not even good or bad.But lets be honest i really enjoyed BFE and this review is 100 times better than GGmaneviles
